Arrival in Japan

Greetings from Uchinada Japan!

We were blessed with a flight last Thursday from Vancouver to Nagoya, Japan. Unfortunately, we were not able to get any standby flights to Tokyo, so we were unable to travel to visit Tak’s family. However, we are looking forward to a visit from Tak’s mother when our baby is born in January.

From Nagoya, we took a bullet train to Kanazawa where we were picked up, early Saturday morning (around 1230am) by a friend from church . We are very thankful for the efficient and cost-friendly package delivery service in Japan. From Nagoya airport, we were able to ship all our check-in luggage directly to Uchinada where it arrived the next day.

Our family has moved into the home where we will be living in Uchinada. We have a guest room, so we welcome any friends or family to connect with us for a visit if you are in the area in the future and want to see the ministry here in Japan!

Praise:

  • Maternity Care

God answered someone’s prayer for Sarah’s maternity care! We met a nurse at Uchinada church who worked at one of the most well-known and respected maternity clinics in Kanazawa for 28 years. Through her connection, Sarah was able to be accepted directly to the clinic on Tuesday for maternity care despite it being very busy and booked well in advance. The physician who originally founded the clinic was a believer, so the clinic is named Megumi-Grace Clinic (Website: http://www.megumi.or.jp/). It is a beautiful clinic with impressive facilities and midwives working in combination with physicians. Even better, it is only a 10 minute drive from our home, so a very quick trip when it’s time for delivery!

Prayer Request:

  • Van

Our family is looking for a van to accommodate our growing family including 3 children’s car seats. It should be a 7-seater. We would like to find a van for $4000 or less. Until the end of the month, we will be able to drive the church’s van, but need to purchase our own by October 31st.
