Birth of Jonah Ruben Hayashi

We know many of you were waiting expectantly to hear the good news of the birth of our third child. 🙂

We welcomed Jonah Ruben Hayashi , 譲成 光勉 林, into our family on Tuesday, January 16th at 12:53 a.m.

Baby weight: 3385grams
Length: 51cm
Head circumference: 35.5cm

Jonah means dove/peace.

We chose this name as a reminder from Jonah 4:2 “…you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster.”

Ruben means “behold, a son”, and is the Dutch/Japanese spelling of Reuben.

We chose this name because Reuben was faithful to care for and look out for his brothers especially Joseph. Also, the tribe of Reuben in Scripture was given this commendation: “You have not forsaken your brothers these many days, down to this day, but have been careful to keep the charge of the Lord your God….” Joshua 22:3

If you are interested in knowing their meaning, Tak chose the following Japanese characters for Jonah‘s name.

譲成 光勉 林

譲-jo
-modesty/humility
-to inherit

成-na
-to build up/establish/become
-to succeed/accomplish

光-ru
-light, shining, happiness, hope

勉 -ben
-to endeavour/strive/be diligent
-to encourage

林-Hayashi

Thank you for your prayers!
Tak, Sarah, Naomi, Noah, and Jonah
